As the header says, I changed the leaking seal after removing the pulley. Just pull out the old seal and install new. I agree the hardest part can be removing the pulley nut. As with most of the oil seals, installing the new seal should be done with caution, lubricate it well and install it straight. If it gets cocked to one side and you just hammer it home with force, it gets damaged there and then.
